INGREDIENTS:

4 medium apples
1 Tbsp. bacon grease or butter
2 Tbsp. sorghum or maple syrup, or
1/4 cup light brown sugar

DIRECTIONS:

Quarter the apples, remove the cores, and slice the apple quarters 1/8-inch thick, slicing them the long way. In a skillet or sauté pan with a lid, melt the bacon grease over medium heat. Add the apples and toss lightly to coat. Cover and let sweat for 3 minutes. Then remove the lid and add your chosen sweetening, tossing lightly again to coat.

Continue cooking uncovered for a few more minutes, until the apples are tender and the juice has been absorbed to make a light glaze. Set the pan aside to let the apples rest for a few minutes before serving.
