If you’d like to pitch a story to WNC magazine, please review our guidelines:

WNC includes articles on notable residents, outstanding homes, issues facing the region, history, arts, environmental initiatives, outdoor activities, foodways, health and wellness, and natural and cultural points of interest. Articles range in length from 200-word stories in the Guideposts section to 2,000-word features, and all content is exclusive to the Western North Carolina region.

WNC is always accepting story pitches and stories do not necessarily have to go with the theme of the issue.

Prior to submitting your ideas, please review previous issues to get a sense of the tone and purpose of each department. To submit, please send us the following:

  • As many as three recently published writing clips
  • A brief summary of your experience as a writer or editor
  • Well-written story proposal(s) outlining the angle, identifying any sources you intend to interview, and the department and issue in which the article might be appropriate. Please note: WNC is looking for original, fresh material, and all articles must have a direct connection to Western North Carolina.

Please e-mail queries to editor@wncmagazine.com, or mail to Editor, WNC Magazine, 33 Patton Ave., Asheville, NC 28801. Please allow up to three months for a response.
