Chas Fitzgerald and Jack Hammack have filled their arts and crafts-style cottage with treasures from the area, including a painting of turkeys by John “Cornbread” Anderson bought at American Folk Art & Framing in Asheville. Antique sconces flank the piece. The pottery is vintage with the exception of the jug in foreground by Door Pottery. The fireplace stoker is by Dan Howachyn.

Niches throughout the compact, three-story home hold guidebooks, collected finds, and art. Dan Howachyn of Black Mountain Iron Works forged the handrail. The stair runner is from Wisteria.
Oscar lounges on a stool in the kitchen, which incorporates design elements of the 1920s and ’40s. Pops of green jump from the island, cabinet knobs, and pottery.

In the office, an arts-and-crafts bookshelf holds colorful vintage blankets made at the former Beacon Manufacturing textile mill in Swannanoa, as well as many pieces of contemporary and vintage pottery the two have collected while exploring mountain towns. Moroccan bedside tables from A Far Away Place in Asheville complement a custom-made log bed. Windows above the headboard allow natural light into the en suite bathroom.
The bathroom blends Mexican and Mediterranean styles.
Adriatico by Enrique Magaña, hung in the master bedroom, depicts stones falling from the sky and turning into homes.
The transoms were cleverly created out of a deconstructed crib.

Perched in The Village of Cheshire, Ravencroft is a welcoming retreat for Fitzgerald and Hammack.
The stone pillars that support the balconies feature stonework inspired by the Grove Park Inn.
