Founded in 1925, the John C. Campbell Folk School is the oldest and largest of its kind in the country. Their 48th annual festival preserves and shares the rich artistic history of the Southeastern US. This annual event showcases the work of 200 regional artisans and features live performances of clogging and Morris dance by talented individuals and family groups. There will also be guitar, banjo, dulcimer, Native American flute, and bodhrán music. Visitors also have the opportunity to gather at one of the two large stages over the weekend to listen to local and regional musicians playing roots, bluegrass, folk, and old-timey music while snacking on a variety of local fare including the Folk School’s famous barbecue. » John C Campbell Folk School, 1 Folk School Rd.; Saturday & Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.; $5; (1-800) 365-5724; www.folkschool.org
