ACROSS WNC
Dance troupes representing India, the Netherlands, Slovenia, Russia, Argentina, Israel, and other countries are set to attend the 34th Folkmoot, along with the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and other local Appalachian groups. Performances take place across WNC. The festival’s moniker aptly means a “meeting of the people,” and while the multicultural event certainly celebrates the pageantry and drama of folk dance, organizers say it’s really about the chance to “build a deeper sense of connection, mutual respect, and shared purpose.” In other words, it lives up to its name.
