Marian Wright Edelman, founder and president of The Children’s Defense Fund, spoke to a crowd of 1,200 at Pisgah Legal Services’ poverty forum. The presentation, “Ending Child Poverty Now,” was held at Thomas Wolfe Auditorium in Asheville and featured a performance by the youth choir of First Baptist Church. Organizers say it was the largest event in PLS’s history.
