Celebrating the beautiful, but poisonous Rhododendron for seventy six years now, this festival honors the world’s largest natural rhododendron garden atop Roan mountain. This event features a craft fair with food vendors, children's activities, and live music throughout the day, as well as a classic car show, a 10K run, two nights of street dancing, and, notably, a pageant that serves as a scholarship opportunity for young women. Everyone is welcome for the car show, with the Rhododendron Cruisers showcased and held at the Quality Plus parking lot across from the fire department on Saturday during the festival, from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. With more than 100 cars, all makes and models will be spotlighted.
