This year, McDowell County’s New Year’s festivities are bigger and better than ever. From 7 p.m.-9 p.m., Marion’s first family-friendly (and free!) NYE gala caters to kiddos with an early bedtime, complete with snacks, activities, and an 8 p.m. ball drop. Big kids can stick around for horse-drawn carriage and mini train, a live DJ, bounce houses, and of course, the iconic Gold Nugget Drop at midnight, with this year’s prop crafted by the makers at Turtle Laboratories. destinationmcdowell.com
