Through October 18 | Asheville
The first of its kind at Biltmore, this magical experience honors the Vanderbilts’ lasting love of the arts by transforming the estate into an enchanting nightscape of light, sound, and story. Delight in an original soundtrack artfully synchronized with narrative illuminations and dreamy lightscape garden scenes. Inspired by the 19th-century property, composed by Julien Grefe, and performed by Asheville Symphony Orchestra, the score delivers a powerful reimagining of the period works favored by founder George Vanderbilt II. In tandem, projections on the house facade reflect the inner lives of those once working and residing in the grand home. Basic tickets give access to the installation and grounds or may be upgraded with an exclusive tour of Artistic Legacies. This intimate exploration of the Vanderbilts’ art collections indulges in untold family tales and rarely shared works from Cornelia Vanderbilt. We recommend starting in the charming Antler Hill Village, where you can peruse curated boutiques, taste field-to-table cuisine, and enjoy complimentary wine tastings. While there, stop at guest services to pick up your wristbands and bypass event check-in lines at Biltmore House. » Biltmore, 1 Lodge St.; $60-$225; nightly times slots begin at 6 p.m.; (800) 411-3812; biltmore.com
