Held at the former campus of the famed experimental Black Mountain College—alma mater to music maven John Cage, the father of modern dance Merce Cunningham, and innovative architect Buckminster Fuller—this three-day festival seeks to connect cultures around the world through music, the arts, and story at a historic venue. Since it began in 1995, LEAF has hosted over 25,000 performers from over 100 countries. Celebrating their 50th festival this year, the lineup features four-time Grammy winning diva Angelique Kidjo of Benin, Ukrainian folk-punk quartet Dakha Braka, and Atlanta folk duo Rising Appalachia. www.theleaf.org
