Glass Antler Chandelier, sculpted glass and steel, 4.5' x 3.5' By John Almaguer, Asheville

After seeing the great Dale Chihuly’s work when he was a teenager, John Almaguer knew he wanted to work in glass. He studied the art form at Appalachian Center for Crafts in Tennessee, spent a summer learning at the Corning Museum of Glass in New York, and apprenticed under a Murano maestro in Venice. His work, a mix of large-scale custom lighting and sculptural forms, is carried out at the North Carolina Glass Center in Asheville. The antler chandelier was a commissioned piece and collaboration with Weaverville metal artist Eric Valleca.
