PHOTO - Continua, oil on metal leaf, 40" x 48" By Perry Houlditch, Asheville
The harmony between palette and pigment comes naturally for Perry Houlditch. As an artist who has mixed his own oil paints for virtually his entire 15-year career, he seeks to address the human condition with his expressive abstractions. His piece Continua reflects on the perpetuity of life after conflict, and sowing the seeds of personal growth, which he likens to a forest that must first burn down in order to grow back twice as large. “Time in art lets us see a little deeper into the human experience,” he says. “It’s always about the beginning and end of things.” Find Houlditch’s art, including figurative works and impressionistic landscapes, at www.perryhoulditchstudio.com and at the Wedge Studios in Asheville’s River Arts District.
