Profile on a Cold Day, oil on paper, 14" x 10"

A native of North Carolina, Amy Sullivan’s eye is attuned to the subtle colorations, textures, and gradients of her home region. “The High Country definitely inspires my work,” she describes, “evident from paintings of country farmhouses and barns.” It’s evident as well in her careful consideration of aspect in the scenes she depicts—large scale portraits of tobacco barns weathered in disuse, country churches, and intimate landscape sketches are all rendered in oil and cold beeswax, mediums that are as much of the composition as the images on paper or canvas themselves. Shown in fine art galleries since 2010, her work is textural, often moody, and complex. In the High Country she is represented at Blowing Rock Frameworks & Gallery. amysullivanfineart.com
