Featuring impeccable acoustics and the aesthetics of a multi-faceted jewel, Smoky Mountain Center for the Performing Arts in Franklin opened in 2009 with a primary focus on family entertainment. Diversity is the theme of the venue’s 2011 season, featuring acts that range from country music to Russian ballet. Nearly 100 performances are scheduled each year, drawing up to 75,000 people. Upcoming shows include: Grammy-winner Marty Stuart, September 9; pop and country star Josh Kelley, September 23; the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, October 14; and a Wizard of Oz production, November 3-6. 1-(866) 273-4615; www.GreatMountainMusic.com
