Knoxville dwellers Evy Linkous and Andrew Brassinga may have found each other on a modern dating app, but when it came to their nuptials, this whimsical couple fell for a vintage vibe. So when their venue search landed them at Junebug Retro Resort—with its charming creekside pavilion tent, wildflower fields, VW microbus, and mid-century campers—the pair swiped right.

“Every detail, from the hanging floral installations to the colorful bud vase centerpieces, was designed to bring their retro-disco theme to life,” says florist DeAnna Reid of Eden House, whose textural arrangements of gerberas, poppies, caspias, sweet peas, roses, ranunculi, carnations, and baby’s breath matched the bride’s carefree energy. Mod seating dressed in punchy velvet, glam disco balls, citrusy aperol spritzes, and a classic suitcase-turned-card box played up the funky character that the bride and groom envisioned. Even the couple’s style channeled their groovy mood. She donned her great-grandmother’s antique Tennessee pearl necklace and a Theia lace gown inspired by Georgia O’Keeffe’s iris paintings, while his embroidered three-piece suit echoed ’70s fashions.

“We wanted the wedding to feel like a big party with all of the people we love the most,” beams Evy, so the fun-loving duo celebrated with personal touches at every turn. Custom matchbooks bore her sketches of their beloved dogs (who also inspired the signature cocktails). Andrew’s cousin and uncle serenaded the Tennessee-true crowd with “Rocky Top” and “Wagon Wheel” on guitar and banjo. Evy thrifted Depression glass goblets in a rainbow of colors for each guest to take home. And the mother-of-the-bride baked a playful shag cake, as she’s done for each of her betrothed daughters. Above the 1960s Airstream bar, a fringed banner proclaiming “I Feel Love” reflected the cheerful spirit of “everyone who made an effort to show up,” says Evy. As rain cooled the air and the party heated up, that message perfectly captured all that the newlyweds envisioned for this happy spring evening.
