The Center for Craft’s current exhibition, curated by Michael Hatch, examines the foundational moments in the late 1800s and 1900s that laid the groundwork for Western North Carolina’s now-thriving craft scene. It’s the first in a series developed by Warren Wilson College for display in the center’s John Cram Partner Gallery. The exhibition provides a unique perspective on the story through the use of audio recordings, historical documents, and images and objects from the Southern Highland Craft Guild. And, it’s the first exhibition that allows urban missionaries and regional craftspeople to speak for themselves, via audio extracts from oral history recordings projected into the gallery. » Center for Craft, 67 Broadway St.; Monday-Friday, noon-6 p.m.; free; (828) 785-1357; www.centerforcraft.org
