The Coffee Shop

A 25-cent price difference between a meat-and-three plate and the same meal with just two sides might be lost on younger generations, but it isn’t on the die-hards who frequent The Coffee Shop. This diner, lovingly nicknamed “The Greasy Spoon,” opened in 1923 when a quarter went a lot further. It still does here. We’re talking hearty Southern meals like country-fried steak with gravy or meatloaf with mashed potatoes for lunch.
