On The Verge submission - joshuaspiceland

I have been an Asheville resident for five and a half years. I attended UNCA and graduated with a major in Studio Art, Concentration in painting. In the summer of 2008 I painted extensively with the Asheville Mural Project on the underpass of 240, and in 2009 I painted a mural in The Hookah Bar, downtown.

I have lived in the same house for 3.5 years, having turned the entire space into a private gallery and studio which allows me to stay constantly mindful of where I am at in my creative process. When I am not drawing, painting, or doing research, browsing through art history books, I am riding my bicycle.

Before I came to school in Asheville, I lived in Boone, NC, where i went to elementary and high school. Growing up in these beautiful mountains has been a tremendous blessing for my life and my creative energy. I plan to live here for another couple of years, and i plan to continue to seek and be inspiration.
Hopefully the artwork can speak for itself, because I find it hard to write about myself, I would rather write about art.
