Every November, before winter snow quiets the busy streets of Highlands, the town transforms into a veritable buffet of exquisite tastes during the namesake Culinary Weekend. Here’s a short list of where to eat, shop, and stay while you’re there.

Eat
This town has no shortage of award-winning restaurants, and Highlands Culinary Weekend, November 10-13, is a chance to sample the best of the best. Themed dinners with wine pairings, cooking workshops, and appearances by elite chefs and cookbook authors are on the menu. The sip-and-stroll on Saturday lets you try wines while you shop. Some events are free, while dinners range from $65 to $175. www.highlandsculinaryweekend.com

Shop
Between bites, stock up on kitchen tools and treasures, from cookware, gadgets, and utensils to fine cutlery and place settings, at The Dry Sink on Main Street. Pick up a Good Grips corkscrew and wine stopper-pourer combo for $22. Then pop over to Mountain Fresh Grocery or Colonel Mustard’s to grab a bottle of wine and specialty snacks before retiring to your room. www.thedrysink.com

Stay
The Inn at Half Mile Farm is the epitome of rustic elegance. At this 1870 farmhouse overlooking a six-acre lake, guests can choose from 15 rooms in the main house (many have fireplaces), or opt for a cabin. Owners Wendy and Barry Messer will treat you to a sweet or savory breakfast prepared by the inn’s chef. During the culinary event, the inn will host a multi-course French feast and wine paring ($100). Rooms start at $250. www.halfmilefarm.com
