In Search of the Rare and Beautiful

Naturalist Jack Johnston leads this annual hike hosted by the Land Trust for the Little Tennessee to find the rare native mountain camellia in bloom. This small tree thrives in only a few locations, so most people never see its spectacular blossoms. Along with the walk, Johnston will sell camellias and give a talk about the species’ habitat. Space is limited.
