Grandfather Mountain Highland Games

More than 70 Scottish clans will gather for the annual Highland Games to celebrate the region’s Scots-Irish heritage. The Bear, a five-mile foot race from Linville to the summit of Grandfather Mountain, kicks off the games. Traditional bagpiping, Scottish country dancing, Highland wrestling, sheep herding demonstrations, and history and genealogy clinics are also part of the weekend. Camping is available for an additional fee.
