Budding Blacksmiths

With more than 850 classes to choose from, it’s hard to pick just one field of study at John C. Campbell Folk School in Brasstown. Bob Alexander’s Flowers in Metal course, May 20-26, teaches students to create everlasting blooms. Participants will learn hot- and cold-forging techniques for shaping roses, lilies, buttercups, and dogwoods. Metalworking experience is helpful, but not required. $568; www.folkschool.org
