Catch of the Day
Many times I have wished that we were not so far away from the coast. I do love fresh seafood and often drive there and will eat nothing else for a week or more! There is a new seafood restaurant/retail store in Asheville. Not only do they create great seafood dishes, they also sell fresh seafood that is displayed just a few feet from your table. It is difficult to eat fresh seafood and not then buy fish or scallops to take home!
David and Tracy Griffin are the owners of Blue Water Seafood Company and they been in business in Hendersonville for 8 years. The recently opened a second fresh-seafood location in Asheville at 94 Charlotte Street, next door to City Bakery.
On our visit a few weeks ago, we had the crab cakes and the scallops. Wonderful! Two succulent cakes full of crab and great spices. The scallops were plentiful, large and perfectly cooked. I really enjoyed rushing next door to the bakery and buying a baguette just to dip into the clarified butter and juices from the scallops.
Blue Water Seafood is a great supporter of the WNC Chefs Challenge, delivering every week, fresh seafood for the chefs to use in their dishes. The scallops, fish, mussels, and shrimp always excited and satisfied the audience for their “seafood fix’ for that challenge!
If you are looking for a new seafood fix and especially if you live in north Asheville, stop in and enjoy! (www.bluewaterseafood.net)
