Fete Set: Havana Nights

The Asheville Affiliates hosted their third fundraiser of 2010 on August 25 at Appalachian Vintner in Asheville. A benefit for the Asheville Buncombe Community Relations Council, the night had a Cuban theme complete with food from Curras Nuevo Cuisine and salsa dancing lessons.

Though Appalachian Vintner is currently a large wine and craft beer shop, it has been several dance clubs over the years and it provided a great space for the Havana Nights getaway that also included a silent auction. Guests carried the theme through Caribbean-inspired dress and vintage attitude.

The Asheville Affiliates formed in 1999 as a support system for area nonprofits. They host several parties throughout the year, using a network of extensive contacts, that bring awareness and funds to different organizations.

The Asheville-Buncombe Community Relations Council formed in the 1960s as a civil rights organization. Today, they focus on a wide range of issues including policies for minorities and immigrants.
